A Thad Trap

What happens when two mischieveous cowgirls have too much time on their hands? They build a Thad trap. The day before I was playing with my 5 year old nephew who was building heffalump traps, and I do believe this one is similar. Only to catch a Thad, one lures him in with quality root beer (look closely at door).

I don't believe that any animals were harmed in taking these pictures and I'm quite certain that Thad was not successfully caught. Although there was some work with a pocket knife to clean up all the bailing twine...

First Calf

Stephanie has been back to the ranch for the last month helping out while Thad recovers from a bad back. If she keeps picking up the cutest baby calves, she might be joining Thad in the land of workman's comp.

Horses in February

We just brought the horses in for their winter trim and continue to be so happy at how fat they remain. The early fattening up on the old hay meadows has paid off. Domingo misses all the guests I think.

Stephanie is still here helping while Thad recovers. "Captain" Butte continues to be her favorite horse and she keeps scheming on how she's going to get John, his owner, to part with him. We had beautiful weather last week and Stephanie caught up Cadillac for me, saddled him, and then started walking him by my office window, just reminding me of why I live here. We got in three short, but so welcomed rides last week before the temperature started to drop again.

Right before the change in temperature, we had a short storm and once again our world was a winter wonderland.
